Position Overview
The Frankenmuth Historical Association is seeking a dynamic and personable Gift Shop Associate. This is a part-time position that, depending on need, will require working shifts in our gift shop/museum entrance.
We expect candidates to arrive on time, stay for their full shifts, and provide visitors with the best possible service. Weekly schedules may vary.
The mission of the Frankenmuth Historical Association is to preserve, communicate, and celebrate the heritage of the Franconian communities and to promote a greater appreciation for local, regional, national and world history among the residents of and visitors to Frankenmuth.
The Gift Shop Associate will coordinate and support all duties necessary in the gift shop, including:
● Greet each and every visitor with a smile and warm welcome
● Open the cash register and provide accurate change to cash-paying customers
● Shoe visitors/customers that locations of items they are looking and suggest complimentary items when appropriate
● Monitor visitors on the floor, notifying management of any possible shoplifting
● Restock shelves as needed
● Open and close the museum and gift shop
● Regularly dust gift shop and museum
Preferred Qualifications
● Enthusiasm for history and an eagerness to share with learners of all ages.
● Customer service experience and ability to work with volunteers, customers, and as part of a team.
● Ability to work weekends and evenings, as needed.
● Cash and register experience, especially working with Square.
● Excellent work ethic and time management skills.
● Previous customer service experience.
● Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Reporting Relationship
Works under the general direction of the Gift Shop Manager and Executive Director.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
● Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds
● Ability to reach, bend, stoop, lift, and move arms, and carry museum materials
● Operate a variety of standard offi ce equipment including computers, laptops, printers, tablets, telephones, etc.
